The opening hole is a straightaway par 5 with the first of 11 lakes guarding the left side of all approach shots from 160m out.

Steeply banked sides encroach all the way to the fairway’s edge, so players should keep well to the right.

Invisible from the fairway is a pond behind the green which is out of bounds, so any shot going through the green should be followed up with a provisional ball.
